RAF Wickenby Archives - Work in Progress

The RAF Wickenby Memorial Museum is the official location for the records of the Wickenby Register. These archives were compiled over an extended period of time by the late Jim McDonald. Jim not only spent a lot of time in the Public Record Office copying things like Operational Record Books, he also typed (this was before word processors) a wealth of information such as MI9 reports and appended the official records with information from members of the Register.

The museum volunteers are working towards fully digitising those records and incorporating a range of additional material.

At the moment Anne and Philip are working on bringing the photographic archive up-to-date by:

Scanning photographs which have been donated and adding them to the digital archive. The originals are being sorted into boxes for secure storage.

Ann is working on the text based index with a view to transfering the information into a searchable database

Ken continues to develop the database of aircrew, aircrew losses etc. and respond to enquiries

All of the artifacts, papers, letters, maps etc. are in the process of being fully catalogued
